New Mexico’s State Affordable Housing Tax Credit was enacted by legislation in 2005. This is a charitable state tax credit that provides up to 50% of the value of donations (cash, land, buildings, or services) for approved affordable housing projects, or for donations made directly to the New Mexico Affordable Housing Charitable Trust. Donations received can be used to fund building and land acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, remodeling, conversion, or weatherization.
Funding Description: The Department of Tax Revenue issues tax credits for the program. In 2013, $95,000 was issued. The tax credit is administered by the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority.
