Nonrefundable Renter’s Credit
How Can You Help?
The National Low Income Housing Coalition is providing this data as a public service. NLIHC will continue to update the database. The accuracy of the data is based on information provided by the programs' administrators and user submissions.
The Nonrefundable Renter’s Credit program is a non-refundable tax credit. The majority (87%) of persons claiming the credit reported an adjusted gross income of less than $49,999. To be eligible, an individual must be a resident of California and must have paid rent for at least half of the tax year. The credit is $60 for single individuals and $120 for head of households or married couples.
The program is state-funded through tax credits. In FY12, 177.5 million claimed credit and $105.8 million in credits were allowed.
