The Missouri Housing Trust Fund has awarded grants to organizations providing housing assistance to individuals since 1994. For FY13, the funding priorities include rental assistance, operating funds for organizations providing housing related services, construction funds, home repair funds, and emergency assistance.
The Missouri Housing Trust Fund receives financing from a $3 recording fee on all real estate documents filed in the State of Missouri so annual funding depends on the level of real estate activity. In total, $3.3 million dollars in funds were approved for FY13. Of this amount, about $1.5 million went towards rental assistance, $700,000 was allotted for operating funds, and $600,000 for new construction. An additional $500,000 was reserved for home repair and preservation. In FY14 about $3.8 million was approved. In FY15, $3.2 million was approved with $786,421 for rental assistance, $486,233 is for Emergency Assistance.
